Introduction of Comprehensive Stroke Center, JNUH
The comprehensive stroke center of the first affiliated hospital of Jinan University is staffed by a multidisciplinary team that provides optimal care for stroke patients. The Stroke Center team includes Neurologists, Neurointerventionalists, Neurosurgeons, Neuroradiologists, Emergency Department physicians, Neurocritical care nurses, Neuroimaging technologists, hyperbaric oxygen operators, Specialty trained ancillary and support staff. We proudly offer 2 neurologic intensive care units, 6 standard wards (300 beds), 2 domestic first-class hybrid-operation rooms and 1 gamma knife center.
As the leading center of Tianhe Regional stroke emergency network, our center incorporates the most advanced equipment and an around-the-clock staff of specialized doctors and nurses who are available 24/7. Established “Green Channel for Stroke”, easy access to stroke unit, in our center has reached to a national leading level,，which allows us to provide a more professional and efficient service to stroke patients. Annually, more than 30,000 out patients and 5000 inpateints accept our professional service. More than 300 endovascular thrombectomy and complex hybrid operations have been performed in our center in recent years.
Our center was also certified as clinical medical research and transformation center of ischemic cerebrovascular disease of Guangzhou and has hosted major clinical trial such as National Science and technology support program sub project "ischemic stroke acute phase thrombolytic treatment improvement system".
Besides, our stroke center has been granted as sites for postgraduate education and the standardized training program for residents and specialists. We has been selected as institutions of the professional qualifications of the national drug clinical trial. Currently, there are 10 doctoral supervisors and 30 master supervisors in our center.
Staffs working in our center are also served as the corresponding authors or team leaders of several national stroke guidelines or expert consensus. Professor Anding Xu, director of stroke center, has served as the vice president of the China Stroke Society and vice chairman of the Stroke Prevention and Control Committee of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association.
For the past 3 years, we undertook 8 National Natural funds, 1 major project in Guangdong, 4 major science and technology projects in Guangzhou, 2 multicenter clinical studies in China and more than 20 other provincial or ministerial projects. The total funding is up to 30 million yuan. More than 400 academic papers have been published both at home and abroad (over 100 papers in SCI journals, 4 papers IF>10, and 5 papers IF5-10).
